HOW TO INSTALL MAGNUM PLUS USING THE MAGNUM APPLICATOR
HOW TO INSTALL MAGNUM PLUS Installing Magnum Plus tire balancing compound into medium and light truck tires is very straightforward – Magnum Plus comes in INSERT™ bags that can be placed directly inside the tire during installation. Just check on the Application Chart for the correct size of Magnum Plus to use, open the outer bag and place the inner packet inside the tire. The INSERT™ bag allows you to use an air-tool or cheater to mount the beads without problems If you are doing a combination balance (see Specialty tires), you should run your nail along the seam on the inner INSERT™ bag before placing in the tire, to ensure quick dispersal of the microbeads. Avoid using excessive tire lubricant to mount the tire - any liquid lubricant falling into the tire may cause the microbeads to clump up.
Always use dry air when installing Magnum Plus. This ensures that the Magnum Plus retains its free-flowing characteristics for maximum balancing efficiency. When the tires are already mounted on a rim, you should use the Magnum Plus Applicator, which is quick and easy to use. For instructions please refer to Technical Bulletin- Magnum Applicator.
USING THE MAGNUM APPLICATOR
Safety Goggles should always be worn. If the tire is already mounted on a rim, you should use the MAGNUM Applicator. First, put on safety goggles, remove the valve core from the tire and let out the air - if the tire is mounted on the vehicle, we recommend putting a jack under the axle, to take the load off the tire. Then empty the bag of Magnum Plus into the applicator, and close the lid. Attach the airline to the inlet valve, and the outlet hose of the applicator to the valve stem. Open the inlet valve first, and then the outlet valve immediately afterwards - the Magnum Plus will be drawn into the air stream, and should be completely installed into the tire quickly.
Close off the valves, detach the hose, and replace the valve core with the TPMS valve core provided with each packet of Magnum Plus. This prevents any particles of Magnum Plus from entering the valve core, and also ensures that the valve is compatible with a TPMS sensor. Release the air pressure carefully from the applicator, and finish inflating the tire.
Additional Notes
a) When deflating a tire, condensation may form around the valve stem. Before installing Magnum with the applicator, allow enough time for any condensation to dry off, since moisture around the valve stem may create problems in installing the Magnum Plus.
b) Use tire lubricant sparingly when mounting a tire, and do not dilute the lubricant. Excessive or diluted lubricant that falls into the tire could cause the Magnum Plus to clump up.
c) Always use dry air when installing Magnum Plus. This ensures that the Magnum Plus retains its free-flowing characteristics for maximum balancing efficiency. d) If your Applicator was bought before 2008, you will need an adapter to use it with Magnum Plus.
